Election Symposium

Made Possible By Support From The Charles F. Kettering Foundation

Strengthening Democracy Through Educating
About Our Elections

For the last 53 years, the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress (FMC) has drawn upon the unique and extensive knowledge of our membership to help strengthen representative democracy, both at home and abroad. Given the misinformation surrounding Presidential, Gubernatorial, and Congressional elections during the last two cycles, we’ve partnered with the Charles F. Kettering Foundation to convene leaders of institutions named after Former Members, experts, Former Members of Congress, and foundations from across the country to serve as a bulwark against similar election misinformation during the 2024 cycle. The conference will be held November 1st-3rd at the Kimpton Monaco in Washington, DC (700 F Street NW Washington, DC 20004). All costs will be covered for participants, with the exception of airfare.

What Participants Are Working On

One of our goals for the conference is to connect the leaders of Former Member institutions, many of which are housed within top universities, to catalyze joint research, community projects, and other efforts to strengthen our elections and democracy long after the conference.
